Does
your child fall under the minimal percentage of kids those who grind their
teeth especially during night? You are definitely not alone here. It is said
that 15 to 30% of the children grind their teeth in the night during their
toddler hood/pre-school age.
When to be worried?
Teeth grinding in children needn’t be given attention unless it is caused by any one of the following reasons· Stress and anxiety
· Nutrition deficiency
· Improperly aligned teeth
· Dehydration
· Worming in the intestine
· Any other allergies
What can be done?
· It is always better to consult the pediatrician/dentist to check whether there is any effect in the teeth or gums due to grinding of teeth.

If suggested by the dentist, then you can go for
temporary teeth guards to prevent loosening of teeth/damages in jaws/other
dental problem.
·
Reduce the stress throughout the day especially
few hours before going to bed.(which can be done by minimizing the television,
telling bed time stories, giving massage before bed, etc.,)
·
Make sure your child drinks enough water during
the day time to avoid dehydration.
·
De-worm your child once in every 6 months with
the prescribed medicine by your pediatrician.
