It is very common for a
toddler to complain about Leg pain often. Sometimes they may get very excited
and tend to exhaust all their energy by involving themselves in Outdoor
activities. But when should you be concerned about it?
Is your kid complaining
about the pain in their calf muscles? It could be their growth spurt. Growth
spurt happens mainly during the night hours when the kid is fast asleep and you
can notice that their arms and legs have grown up overnight. Growth spurt may
last for one or two days. Growth spurt occurs at ages from new born to 10 years
old children. How to identify whether it is a spurt?
- The child may seem to be hungrier than usual or they
may seem to lose their appetite completely.
- The child may tend to sleep longer or they may stay
awake throughout the night.
- The child may seem to be crankier than usual or they
may look very tired.
Growth spurt is good for a child, which all parents
should remember. Refrain from giving any soothing feeling for the child, which
may hinder the growth that was intended to happen. It is always better to
refrain from compressing the calf muscles because it is said to be the 'Second
Heart' of a human body and compressing it may hinder the blood flow to the
various parts of the body.
Note that sometimes leg pain may also be caused due to
calcium or vitamin D deficiency in the body. Supplementing the child with the
calcium rich food will also help to great extent. Click here to read many healthy food and
